Jamie Redknapp uses Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to make point about Chelsea's appointment of Liam Rosenior

Chelsea and their Premier League rivals Manchester United have both made changes in the dugout.

Last week, Chelsea parted ways with Enzo Maresca before hiring Liam Rosenior, who watched his new side lose 2-1 to Fulham on Wednesday night.

Shortly after, United sacked Ruben Amorim and have since appointed Darren Fletcher as their interim boss.

What does Liam Rosenior have to do to get the best out of Cole Palmer?

A very mixed performance against Fulham…

While he has been linked with the vacancy at Old Trafford following his Stamford Bridge exit, Paul Scholes does not want Maresca to join United.

Jamie Redknapp backs Chelsea’s decision to hire Liam Rosenior amid lack of ‘elite managers’

According to reports, United could appoint Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their manager until the end of the season. For Jamie Redknapp, the fact that the idea has even been mentioned shows the lack of elite coaches available, which is why he understands Chelsea’s decision to turn to Rosenior.

Speaking on Sky Sports before the Blues’ defeat to Fulham, Redknapp said: “I’m delighted he’s been given this opportunity, I really am and I hope he does well. A lot of people are saying it’s not the right fit. There is not an abundance of managers.

“I’ve heard Gary Neville there talking about getting Ole Gunnar Solskjaer back for Man United. That tells you where we are with managers right now. There’s not an abundance of elite managers out there.”

Having transformed Ben Chilwell, which player could do with some Liam Rosenior help at Chelsea?🤔

Redknapp may want Rosenior to do well in west London, but that is not going to be easy. There are so many problems at Chelsea presently.

Cole Palmer’s form is a concern, while the team’s disciplinary issues cannot be ignored either. Marc Cucurella’s red card against Fulham was Chelsea’s seventh of the season.

When Liam Rosenior and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will face off if Norwegian gets Manchester United job

United have already beaten Chelsea this season, defeating the Blues 2-1 at Old Trafford. That game, Chelsea also saw red after Robert Sanchez was dismissed in just the fifth minute.

They will get their chance of revenge on 18 April, when Rosenior and Solskjaer could meet at Stamford Bridge.

As things stand, United are unlikely to hire a permanent manager, meaning that Solskjaer could very well get another stint in the Old Trafford dugout. As for Chelsea, they have found their man, handing Rosenior a six-and-a-half-year contract.

Given their history, though, it would be a shock if the former Strasbourg boss reaches the end of it.
