Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi is a January target for Premier League giants Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester City, who are facing a defensive injury crisis. Pep Guardiola’s side are seeking reinforcements after Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias were injured in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea.
Dias is expected to be sidelined for up to six weeks, while Gvardiol could miss the remainder of the season with a broken leg. They join fellow centre-back John Stones on the treatment table at the Etihad, leaving Guardiola short of options.
With his contract expiring this summer, Guehi is eligible to sign a pre-agreement with a club outside England in January, potentially boosting interest from clubs like Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
Guehi has racked up 186 appearances across all competitions for Palace since arriving at Selhurst Park, while also leading Palace to a stunning FA Cup victory last season.
The Eagles defeated Manchester City in the final to secure a European spot. That triumph marked the club’s first-ever major trophy. Liverpool came closest to signing him on deadline day last summer, but Palace pulled the plug on the deal at the last minute.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided the latest update on Marc Guehi’s future, stating that Manchester City are ready to meet Crystal Palace’s asking price and are currently negotiating with the player’s agents.
Romano said on his YouTube channel: “Man City want the deal to happen now. Man City are prepared to bid to Crystal Palace and try to reach an agreement with Crystal Palace for Marc Guehi. Man City believe that would not be a problem to reach a financial agreement with Crystal Palace for the defender.
“Man City are negotiating with the agents of Marc Guehi and now Guehi has to decide because the original plan for the defender has always been let’s move in the summer.
“Complete the season at Palace and then move in the summer transfer window on a free. So, to take his time not having to negotiate club to club on anything, but Man City want him now.
“Man City want to jump into it in a very strong way, and Man City believe again that reaching an agreement with Palace would not be a problem.
“So it’s on the player’s side now to decide what he wants to do. Go to City immediately, or maybe wait for a different opportunity with Liverpool and more clubs keen eventually on Marc Guehi.
‘So that’s going to be a really big story in the upcoming days and weeks, with a decision expected soon by Marc Guehi together with his agents. So let’s follow that one on Manchester City.”
