Arsenal and Liverpool play out first goalless Premier League draw in 11 years

Arsenal played out a goalless draw against Liverpool in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday evening.

Arsenal dominated possession in the first half but failed to create any clear-cut chances. They registered two shots on target, which were easily dealt with by Alisson in the Liverpool goal.

Liverpool came the closest to scoring, with Conor Bradley striking the woodwork after a mistake from David Raya and William Saliba.

Just before the break, Arsenal worked the Liverpool defence well to open up space for Bukayo Saka to break the deadlock, only for Milos Kerkez to deny him with a vital block.

The visitors started the second half on the front foot. They saw a penalty call waived after a brilliant run by Florian Wirtz, who was brought down by Leandro Trossard.

Liverpool then created another opening, allowing Jeremie Frimpong to burst into space, but he could not get a shot away or fashion a chance.

With Liverpool controlling proceedings, manager Mikel Arteta made two changes, bringing on Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli for Trossard and Viktor Gyokeres.

However, the defending champions continued to dominate. Dominik Szoboszlai let another chance go begging, with the ball falling into his path inside the box, only to blast it high.

Gabriel almost snatched a late winner for the table-toppers from Noni Madueke’s corner, but failed to make clean contact,
