Jake Fischer makes Suns stance on Mark Williams crystal clear

Mark Williams has been a nice surprise for the Phoenix Suns this season, despite the franchise paying the hefty price tag of a pair of first round picks to acquire him.

Since landing in The Valley not only has he helped anchor a defense that has hung around the top 10 all season, he's even appearing in back-to-back games these days.

Jake Fischer claims Suns are happy with impact of Williams

NBA insider _Jake Fischer_ took to his YouTube channel just before Trae Young was traded to the Washington Wizards, and opened a later portion of the episode up to questions from fans.

The subject of the Suns' center rotation, specifically Williams and rookie Khaman Maluach, was raised, with Fischer saying the organization is happy with the development of Williams in particular.

Given his injury history with the Charlotte Hornets and the fact he missed all of preseason rehabbing his body, his consistency for the Suns has been nothing short of remarkable.

Dillon Brooks might be getting the credit as the culture shifter and somebody who apparently doesn't [take himself too seriously either](https://valleyofthesuns.com/dillon-brooks-has-hilarious-response-to-place-suns-offense), but it is Williams who is the man in the middle most nights.

This has become even more important to the Suns as they are most certainly ahead of schedule, while Maluach doesn't look ready to contribute every night.

Meanwhile Williams is giving them over 12 points and eight boards every night, and although those aren't career highs, he is on pace to shatter the 44 games he appeared in last season.

He's at 32 already (including 28 starts), and being available for those aforementioned back-to-backs has taken his impact to another level.

[The temptation for head coach Jordan Ott](https://valleyofthesuns.com/yet-another-sports-analyst-heaps-praise-suns-coach-jordan-ott) is surely to use him even more than the 23.8 minutes a night that he currently is, especially given that is his lowest average since his rookie season.

But they have found a sweet spot in getting the most out of him while his body does not break down, an amazing development given the Los Angeles Lakers shut down a trade for him 12 months ago.

Nick Richards is also now expendable because of what Williams has been able to do, so it is no surprise that Fischer would go on the record as saying Phoenix is thrilled with their center addition.

The fit is great and as long as he remains healthy he's going to get the extension he deserves this offseason as well. Another win in The Valley.
