League leaders Arsenal missed the chance to go eight points clear at the summit as they were held to a goalless draw by Liverpool at Emirates Stadium on Thursday night.
The host bossed possession and created the best chances of the opening 20 minute, but couldn’t get the breakthrough as Alisson Becker was equal to the task.
Liverpool came close to breaking the deadlock in the 26th minute when Connor Bradley struck the woodwork after a mistake from David Raya and William Saliba.
Just before the break, Declan Rice saw his effort from the edge of the area comfortably collected by Alisson.
Three minutes after the restart, the visitors appealed for a penalty after Florian Wirtz wriggled his way into the area and was brought down by a challenge from Leandro Trossard, but referee Anthony Taylor waved away the appeals.
At the hour mark, Dominik Szoboszlai blazed over his effort from a free-kick as both sides searched for the opener.
Moments later, the Hungarian saw his effort sail wide from the right after he met Saliba’s clearance from Jeremie Frimpong’s cross.
At the other end, substitute Noni Madueke drilled in a low cross in front of goal, but there wasn’t any Gunner to get on the end of it.
A minute later, Szoboszlai tried his luck again from a free kick, but he hit his effort just over Raya’s bar.
Deep into stoppage time, Gabriel Jesus could have won it for the host from a corner, but he headed his effort straight at Alisson, and it was the last kick of the game.
