Ipswich Town closing in on Chelsea player in surprise development

Ipswich Town is a growing option for Chelsea’s Kendry Páez in the winter market.

That’s according to journalist Mustafa Karataş. He took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to cover a short and surprising report on Ipswich Town.

Last summer, the 18-year-old arrived at Chelsea from Independiente del Valle but wasn’t part of their immediate plans. Therefore, the Premier League side sent him on loan to RC Strasbourg, also owned by BlueCo.

Karataş now reports Chelsea are considering recalling the attacking midfielder. He won’t be part of new manager Liam Rosenior’s squad. Instead, the Blues can send the Ecuador international on loan to Ipswich Town in this window.

If Páez joins Kieran McKenna’s side on loan, Chelsea would send another player on loan to Strasbourg as a replacement.

The South American played 717 minutes from 20 matches in all competitions for the Ligue 1 side and scored one goal. His game time started to drop at the end of September.

Páez would be looking to feature regularly if he were to join Ipswich Town in January.

Rosenior managed Páez before arriving at Stamford Bridge from Strasbourg. Bolavip state the manager wasn’t a fan of the player.

They claim the Chelsea man didn’t ‘follow the team’s game plan and often prioritised his own decisions over the collective effort’.
