How £62m Man City Transfer Could See Arsenal Lose "Absolute Genius" To PL Rivals

Man City’s deal to sign Antoine Semenyo could see Arsenal lose one of their players to Bournemouth.

Arsenal are preparing for a crucial Premier League clash against Liverpool at the Emirates on Thursday, in what could take them eight points ahead of rivals Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s side drew 1-1 against Brighton on Wednesday, handing the Gunners a huge chance on Thursday.

Man City are desperate to close the gap to Arsenal, and so they aren’t afraid to spend in the transfer market. It looks as though they are finalising a deal to sign Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth for a fee of around £62m, with the hope he can boost their chances of winning the Premier league title.

However, this could affect Arsenal in more than one way, as the domino-effect could see Arsenal letting one of their stars leave before the end of January.

Ethan Nwaneri could replace Semenyo at Bournemouth

Arsenal youngster Ethan Nwaneri broke out for the Gunners last season, he made 37 appearances, scoring nine goals, and providing two assists. He was also tipped to play for England, narrowly missing out on Thomas Tuchel’s squad.

However, as Arsenal signed the likes of Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze in the summer, Nwaneri’s role has significantly reduced, so he could leave in January in search of more regular minutes.

Recent reports have said that Nwaneri could join Bournemouth if Semenyo leaves, as the Cherries are keen on the Arsenal star to be their replacement for the winger, should he join Man City.

Arsenal would be losing an “absolute genius”

This season hasn’t been the same for Nwaneri, as he has made just 11 appearances, six of which came in the Premier League. He has one goal, but it came in the Carabao Cup against Brighton.

However, Arsenal haven’t been short of injuries this season, and they need as deep as squad as possible if they are to see it through and win the Premier league title. Should the likes of Saka and Madueke get injured, Nwaneri would be a quality replacement for Arteta.

Joe Cole is clearly in favour of Nwaneri at Arsenal, as the former England winger has said that he is the most exciting young footballer in England. Cole said on TNT Sports: “Nwaneri is going to be an absolute genius.

“He’s the most exciting young footballer at the moment in England and maybe even in Europe. What he’s doing is incredible.”
