Arsenal legend Alan Smith says Man City would be securing “two fantastic signings” if they can land both Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guehi during the January transfer window.
While Semenyo’s move is imminent, an approach for Guehi has only been recently considered following the injuries sustained by Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol. Asked by Best Betting Sites UK about City’s plans to recruit a centre-back, Smith replied:
“I think it is very important that they do get somebody in. A bit like Liverpool, but City have got those defensive injuries. But Guehi would be a great signing, and that would hurt Liverpool. But ready-made fit. Somebody who can come in and play on the left side of the two.”

“He’s turned into a really good international player as well. So, it’d be bad news for everybody else if they get Guehi and they get Semenyo as well; there’d be two fantastic signings.”
What is the latest on Semenyo?
The Ghanaian international scored the winner in his last game for Bournemouth against Tottenham on Wednesday night.
Semenyo is now expected to undergo his medical before sealing his £65m move to the Etihad ahead of his release clause expiring this weekend.
Will Man City make a move for Guehi?
The club do hold a serious interest in the England international, and Palace boss Oliver Glasner has hinted that the Eagles are open to offloading the defender for the right price.
However, while Guehi has less than six months remaining on his contract, the transfer fee needed to sign him this month is likely to be a lot higher than what City are prepared to pay.
With Gvardiol sidelined for months and Dias out for six weeks, though, we shall have to wait and see whether Director of Football Hugo Viana is prepared to pay over the odds to bring in a replacement.
