Semenyo has played in three games in January before his release clause was set to expire on January 10.
It was agreed between the two clubs and with the player that he would feature against Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs before moving – and his performances have been invaluable, particularly against Tottenham, where he scored the winning goal in stoppage time.
Asked about his departure, Iraola said: “I think I’m very proud and I think very pleased with how he has dealt with this situation.

“I think he has been very professional. Everyone knew that there were things going around him, but he has been training every day, no complaints.
“I think he has performed until the end and also I think the moment he lived at the end of the game, scoring the goal, scoring the winner, receiving the ovation, I think is something that will stay there in his mind forever.
“I'm really pleased for him and I wish him obviously all the best also.”
On how Semenyo will perform at City, Iraola said: “Obviously he will have strong competition for minutes, but I think he has the level, I think he's producing the numbers.
“And also he's a player who can adapt very well to all the scenarios in the sense that he has been improving a lot his game.
“I think he understands that this is another step and I hope the same way he has done in other seasons, stepping up. I think he will do the same at City.”
Iraola also praised the Ghanaian’s progress over his time at the [Cherries](http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/cherries/clubnews/?ref=au) and before.

Asked about his role in Semenyo’s development, Iraola said: “No, at the end, especially 99 per cent is himself.
“Even before he arrived to Bournemouth, he has gone through steps in lower divisions, growing, learning things, adapting to new scenarios.
“The time he's been here has been, I would say, every time upwards, you know, he came as a number nine, probably he found himself in better places outside. He has a big advantage that can play both sides, right and left.
“Tactically for a coach, it gives you a lot of options. You can even during the game change sides. And he's absolutely comfortable.
“I think it's a great tool to have that now we will not have and other players will have to step up.
“And now there is a big amount of minutes because normally Antoine played most of the minutes available there for other players to step up and grab them.”
