‘Something stirring’ – Transfer hint as player benched amidst Manchester City interest

On Wednesday, Il Resto del Carlino reported on Manchester City’s interest in Bologna’s Jhon Lucumi.

The Emilia-Romagna based newspaper were sure that the defender’s entourage is waiting for an approach from the Citizens.

This came months after Sunderland had failed in a move for the Colombian. After securing promotion, the club spent weeks trying to seal a deal. They a release clause cut-off, and despite Lucumi being keen it all fell away.

Developments have taken place since then and most importantly, Bologna are struggling to secure the player to a new deal.

Quotidiano Sportivo report confidently that Lucumi will not sign a new deal at the Italian side. The 28-year-old’s contract runs until 2027 and this is now likely to be a huge chance for Manchester City.

The player’s agents are looking forward to a move to England too, and would be thrilled with a City attempt.

It doesn’t end there as BolognaSportNews go deeper into the centre-back’s situation.

They note that he was benched for Bologna’s game against Atalanta mid-week. This is seen as a sign that ‘something is stirring’, especially since Lucumi started all three games before that.

The outlet believe the player’s desire can end up convincing Bologna to sell. The Italian side ideally would want to keep him but an approach from Manchester City will be too tempting for the Colombia international.

This can cause a dilemma at the Rossoblu, but if the player keeps pushing then an exit should go through soon.
