Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Antoine Semenyo will be involved on Saturday in our FA Cup clash with Exeter City.
City face the Grecians in a 15:00 (UK) kick-off at the Etihad in the third round of the world’s oldest cup competition.
And our newest signing, Semenyo, is set for action after arriving from AFC Bournemouth this morning.
Semenyo starred in Bournemouth’s last-gasp 3-2 victory over Tottenham on Tuesday and scored the late, late winner for the Cherries.
And Pep Guardiola says the winger is ready as we look for progress to the next phase of the FA Cup this weekend with the manager yet to decide whether he’ll be in the first XI line-up or on the subs bench.
“He’ll be selected,” said the boss.
“I don’t know if he’ll start but he’ll be selected for sure.”
Guardiola also looked ahead to the clash with Gary Caldwell’s men.
The manager stressed he would be showing huge respect for the opposition and the competition as he looks for the team to make it through to the fourth round.
“When I arrive here, ten years ago, when we play against teams in League One or the Championship, it was typical football,” he added.
“But now they have the ball, they play really good.
“I saw the games against Huddersfield and Cardiff and recently, it didn’t happen ten years ago.
“We have huge respect and always I believe the best way to respect this competition, the FA Cup, when we play those teams in the lower divisions how you respect them - how to play, defend, press - the details you have to do it well.
“That’s the best way to respect the Exeter and all the teams you play.”
