Marina Granovskaia has sent her best wishes to Lamisha Musonda
Former Chelsea academy player Lamisha Musonda has revealed that he is battling with a life-threatening ailment, leading former Blues director Marina Granovskaia to send a message. The erstwhile midfielder, 33, has been out of the public eye for a couple of years, having retired from professional football in 2020.
Musonda posted on Instagram about his travails, pointing out that he may not have much more time alive. In his post, he revealed that his battle with illness is what has kept him away from social media, and asked for aid and prayers from the football community at large.
"Life has so many ups and downs and no one really knows the pain you're dealing with. This has been a tough and gruelling couple of years for me. And it is with sadness that I must inform you that I've been struggling trying to get my health back to normal hence why I've been unable to come on social media. I had to come to grips that my health is in a critical condition and I am now just fighting to stay alive. I would greatly appreciate your help and prayers in this period. My family and I are fighting and won't quit until it is time for my last breath. As you can see here, I've been blessed with a beautiful early stage of my life.... so much more to give. But so many wonderful people I wish I had the chance to thank, face to face. It pains me that I might not have the chance to do so. I love you all 😪. Lamisha", he wrote on Instagram.
Former Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia saw his post and responded with prayers for the former midfielder.
"I sincerely hope you manage to overcome your health struggles! Thinking of you and your family💙🙏🏼", she commented.
Lamisha Musonda joined Chelsea with his younger brothers Tika Musonda and Charly Musonda after impressing in the Anderlecht youth system. He left the Blues two years later to move back to Belgium with Mechelen, while Charly went on to make a handful of appearances for the Blues.
All three brothers have ended their football careers, with Tika now working as a scout with Liverpool aged 31 and Lamisha last playing for TP Mazembe in Congo in 2020. Charly was likened to Eden Hazard and was the most promising of the trio, but injuries cut short his career as a footballer.
Chelsea snubbed former star in head coach appointment: Reports
Chelsea looked at the possibility of employing former player Filipe Luis as their new head coach last week before ultimately choosing to go with Liam Rosenior, as per reports. The Blues have since announced the 41-year-old Englishman as their new boss, poaching him from sister club Strasbourg.
A report from the Daily Mail has revealed that the Blues considered former left-back Luis as an option following his excellent work in Brazil with Flamengo. They opted against moving forward with the appointment despite interviewing the Brazilian because he lacks the qualifications to take up a head coach's job in Europe.
Filipe Luis led Flamengo to defeat Enzo Maresca's Chelsea last year before bringing his side to within a penalty shootout of defeating Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup last month. The highly-rated young tactician has signed an extension with Flamengo, and is expected to remain at the club until 2027, at the earliest.
