Bukayo Saka has agreed a new contract with Arsenal, as first reported by David Ornstein. The contract sees the star man commit until 2031 with an improvement of the player’s terms.

football.london reported this week that the player had been the club’s priority, and are further keen to extend both Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice’s contracts. Saka’s renewal follows a series of contract agreements since the arrival of Andrea Berta.

Ethan Nwaneri, Myles Lewis-Skelly, William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes all agreed new terms with the club, while eight new players were brought in during the window. The business in the summer combined with the competitiveness of the club gave the player a no-brainer scenario.

His seven goals across all competitions make him the joint-top scorer for the club, while he has added a further five assists to his goal contribution tallies too. The arrival of Noni Madueke has eased the burden on Saka further, and after suffering a second hamstring injury in the space of a year in September, the former Chelsea man stepped up in his place.

Now that both are available, Saka has been able to play and secure important periods of rest, as seen in the win over Bournemouth. At 24 years old, the contract sees Saka commit the most important years of his career to the club.

Mikel Arteta has shown the players in the group that this is where they need to be if they want to win the biggest of trophies. Arsenal are six points clear at the top of the Premier League table and are strong favourites now to go on to claim the crown for the first time since 2004.

This deal will be a significant boost to the mood around the club after a difficult 0-0 draw with Liverpool. It comes at a great time and could be a catalyst for the second half of the campaign.
