Chelsea Tipped To Beat Arsenal To £38m Wonderkid Who Could Be The Next De Bruyne

Chelsea have been tipped to sign a Greek midfielder from the Belgian league, despite rival interest from Arsenal.

The Blues have a recent transfer strategy of signing young-promising players for the future, and so many of them have already come good. The likes of Estevao, Cole Palmer, Liam Delap and more will be the stars of Stamford Bridge for several years to come.

New manager Liam Rosenior hopes that this can continue, as he has a track record of getting the best out of young talent at Strasbourg. He is now tasked with the same job at Chelsea, and could soon see a new midfielder join the fray.

Chelsea have been tipped to sign a Greek international, who could become the next Kevin De Bruyne, and they won’t want to pass up on another De Bruyne.

Arsenal and the Blues battle for Greek gem Karetsas

Genk midfielder Konstantinos Karetsas has generated a lot of attention in recent years, as the 18-year-old has been touted to become the latest world-class midfielder to come out of the Belgian league.

He has made 71 appearances for Genk, scoring five goals, and provided 15 assists. He has a knack for creative passes, which certainly sounds similar to De Bruyne. The former Man City midfielder played for Genk before coming to Chelsea too, so the similarities don’t stop there.

Previous reports have said that the Greek international won’t come cheap, as Genk realise just how good a player they have. It is understood that he is expected to cost at least £38m.

Karetsas already has extensive international experience, despite his age, reports indicate that both Chelsea and Arsenal are keen.

Chelsea “a possibility” for Karetsas

In a report about the transfer interest in the 18-year-old, talkSPORT spoke to European football expert Andy Brassell, who believes the Blues are the front-runners to sign him.

Brassell said: “He loves to dribble players, go past players. He’s become better and better at delivering the final pass. I think there are more goals to come in his game, that’s for sure. To go to Arsenal, how is he going to get a game at the moment? I just don’t see it.

“I think with Chelsea, even though there are other competing players in those areas in which he could play, if I were him, I would fancy my chances more of getting a game at Chelsea. Being developed by Liam Rosenior, I think, is quite a compelling pitch if you’re looking for someone to go top level.

“So, could I see Karetsas signing for Chelsea and maybe getting loaned out elsewhere? Yeah, maybe that would be a possibility. I think the talent is so big, it would make sense for a Premier League club to sign him at the moment.”
