“A total disgrace”–Peter Schmeichel unimpressed with Arsenal star

Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel has hit out at Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli after the incident with Liverpool defender Conor Bradley.

Tipsbladet have comments from the former goalkeeper today. He was left very unimpressed by Martinelli’s actions, like everyone else.

The Brazilian has come in for heavy criticism following Arsenal’s 0-0 draw with Liverpool on Thursday. He was shown to have thrown the ball and then pushed an injured Bradley off the pitch when the Liverpool full back was down with an injury.

That injury later forced Bradley out of the game. He was stretchered off and later seen exiting the Emirates on crutches and in a knee brace. The Reds have since reported a potential long-term lay off.

Martinelli later apologised for his actions. In fact, he has confirmed that he sent a message to Bradley apologising to him personally. That has not stopped the criticism coming his way.

While he will face no retrospective punishment for his actions, fans and pundits alike believe he acted disgracefully. Schmeichel is one of them and ‘thundered’ about the Arsenal forward after the game.

“What Martinelli is doing there is just a disgrace. A total disgrace,” he said.

“We don’t want to see anything like that. He even tries to kick him out, he throws the ball at him and then he tries to push him out.

“I don’t know if we get to see it from another angle, but we can see Conor Bradley when he’s being pushed… you can see right away that something is wrong.

“It looks like a serious knee injury. Martinelli, it’s a disgrace to do that. He has no right to do that. I hope they take a look at it and give him a penalty.”
