Manager makes ‘personal move’ for Liverpool player – Relationship with father key

Napoli manager Antonio Conte has ‘made a personal move’ to try and sign Federico Chiesa from Liverpool this month.

That’s according to journalist Emanuele Cammaroto. He recently appeared on Radio Punto Zero to discuss Napoli’s potential transfer business. His comments have been relayed by Tutto Juve.

The Italian champions need to sell players before they can move this month, but that has not stopped them from lining up potential deals. One of the ones they would like to get over the line is Chiesa.

He remains out of favour at Liverpool, despite their struggles this season. The Italian has often impressed from the bench but is yet to be given a full chance. That’s even despite the fallout around Mohamed Salah and his absence for AFCON over January and December.

Numerous reports have made it clear that Chiesa would be happy to return to Italy if given the chance. Indeed, a report today made it clear that there was optimism he would leave Liverpool at some point.

It is likely to be a deal that is done later in the window, if Liverpool sanction it at all. In the meantime, the suitors line up, including Napoli.

“Chiesa? Conte has made a personal move,” explained Cammaroto.

“Juventus is very keen on their former player, but Napoli has an excellent relationship with Federico and his father Enrico.”

Antonio Conte and Enrico Chiesa played together for Italy.
