Arsenal are heading into a crucial month as the club consider making significant moves in the transfer window. The Gunners, currently six points clear at the top of the Premier League, could seek to extend their lead by bolstering their squad this January.

Mikel Arteta's team maintained their lead after a hard-fought 0-0 draw with Liverpool on Thursday night. Although it was a missed chance for Arsenal to pull further ahead, they didn't lose any ground as both Manchester City and Aston Villa also drew their midweek matches.

City have demonstrated their determination to close the gap, having secured Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo. While much attention will be given to high-profile signings, the Gunners have displayed their long-term strategy.

The club has finalised a deal with an EFL side, marking their first transfer of the January window. In addition, Arsenal are reportedly in discussions over a move for a highly-rated talent in Germany.

Here, football.london delves into some of the latest transfer rumours surrounding the Gunners.

Arsenal seal first January transfer

Arsenal have made their first move of the transfer window, with academy prodigy Louie Copley securing a loan move to Crawley Town. The 19-year-old midfielder was part of the first team squad during pre-season and was named on the bench for the Gunners' Champions League match against Club Brugge in December.

This season, he has made 14 appearances for the club's academy teams, captaining both the U19s and U21s. Copley is joining a Crawley side battling relegation in League Two as the teenager aims to gain valuable first team experience.

In a statement, Arsenal announced: "Louie Copley has signed a new professional contract with us and has joined League Two side Crawley Town on loan for the remainder of this season. The 19-year-old joined our academy in July 2019 and went on to sign his first professional contract with us in June 2025."

The club added: "We wish Louie all the best for his loan spell and look forward to seeing his continued development."

Arsenal eyeing prospect

Borussia Dortmund's young talent Romeo Ritter has reportedly caught Arsenal's attention. Sky Germany claims that the Gunners have made phone enquiries about the promising defender, though they are not alone in their pursuit.

Arsenal are said to be up against AC Milan in the race for Dortmund's highly-regarded centre-back. While it appears that Ritter is content at the German club, Arsenal are keeping tabs on his situation.

The 17-year-old has already made two appearances for Borussia Dortmund II in his fledgling career. He has also turned out seven times for the club's U19s and featured in 22 matches for the U17s.
