Opinion: Frank Lampard will be furious at Chelsea if January transfer rumour is true

Chelsea have some big decisions to make when it comes to finding new homes for certain players, as well as potentially making some additions.

The so-called ‘bomb squad’ is yet to fully disperse at Chelsea, as the likes of Raheem Sterling and Axel Disasi need to be moved on, plus the future of Tyrique George is uncertain.

Sterling is attracting interest from Fulham and West Ham, although it’s believed that Chelsea and the player prefer a permanent deal over a loan.

Meanwhile, Disasi has been linked with numerous clubs, and things haven’t improved for him at Chelsea after his disastrous under-21 display.

Frank Lampard has even requested that Coventry sign George this month, but it remains to be seen as to whether that will happen.

A Kendry Paez move looks nailed on, but his new club may raise a few eyebrows.

Frank Lampard is yet to take any Chelsea players on loan, which seems strange when you consider the fact that he has such close ties to the Blues.

Instead, it seems as if Chelsea would rather send one of their brightest youngsters to the Championship rivals of Lampard’s Coventry City.

According to BolaVIP (via East Anglian Daily Times), Kendry Paez could be sent to Ipswich Town and recalled from his loan at Strasbourg.

Paez has struggled this season, scoring just one goal in 20 appearances for the French side.

Where Frank Lampard and Coventry City stand

Coventry City currently sits six points clear at the top of the table, but Ipswich Town can go five points behind if they win their game in hand.

But, as we know, the Championship can change in a split second, as one of the most competitive leagues in the world, some may argue.

Paez has tipped himself to become one of the best in the world, and we’re all aware of his talents, so to send him to a rival of Lampard would just be bonkers.

If anything, it should be Coventry City and Lampard who get first dibs on a player from Chelsea.
