Morant has only played 18 games with the Grizzlies this season due to injuries and disciplinary reasons.
In November, Morant was unhappy with his role with the team following a one-game suspension. Morant’s comments following the loss to the Pistons did little to quell the tension, as Ja says he’s “lost his joy” playing with the team.
When asked what it would take to get that joy back, he responded with, “we’ll see.”
Ja Morant was the number 2 overall pick in the 2019 draft. Morant is currently under contract with the Grizzlies through the 2027-28 season and is eligible for a new deal this summer.
The NBA trade deadline is February 5.
