Report: Mateus Mane's stance on leaving Wolves after Chelsea make contact

Chelsea are looking to bolster their youth ranks once again, with contact being made with the camp of Wolves midfielder Mateus Mane.

The January transfer window tends to be a quiet one in the Premier League, with the introduction of FFP often holding teams back and the hesitancy to make big decisions halfway through a season.

Liam Rosenior may have been appointed at Chelsea, but it seems as if there won’t be much business conducted this month.

Despite a request for new signings from Rosenior, the Blues will only dip into the market if the right opportunities become available.

And Chelsea appear to be taking a look at one of their first opportunities in the shape of Wolves midfielder Mateus Mane.

Mateus Mane’s stance on a move away from Wolves

Chelsea have made contact with Mateus Mane’s camp over a potential move for the youngster this month, with Wolves’ current position possibly working in their favour.

However, there is more than half of the Premier League are chasing his signature.

According to TeamTALK, Mane is very happy with how things have progressed in recent months, and he is in no hurry to leave Molineux.

This could be one to revisit at the end of the season once Wolves suffer their inevitable relegation to the Championship, as his hand may be forced.

Be honest: If Chelsea land Mateus Mane this month, does he go straight into the XI over Pedro Neto?👀

Which positions should Chelsea be targetting this month?

A left-sided centre-back seems the most obvious one. Levi Colwill’s injury has hurt Chelsea more than they would ever have imagined, with multiple combinations

It has been reported that Chelsea had stepped up their pursuit of Jeremy Jacquet this month in search of a new defender, but that has gone silent.

With Romeo Lavia and Dario Essugo struggling with persistent fitness issues, the burden on Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo has been unsustainable.

Chelsea lacks a physical presence in midfield to close out games, which was glaringly obvious in the 2-1 loss to Fulham.
