The London is Blue podcast had their favourite analyst CFC Central on this week to look at Liam Rosenior and how he could be planning to step up to manage Chelsea after a successful spell with Strasbourg.
He found an issue with Rosenior’s team which was one which haunted Chelsea under previous manager Enzo Maresca.
Rosenior could struggle with same issue that Maresca did at Chelsea

“What is going to be his solution against low blocks? Because I still look at his profiles at wing back trying to cross into the box a little too much,” the analyst pointed out.
“Strasbourg’s shots taken this season placed them fourth from bottom which is quite an alarming number, and what’s more alarming for me is that this is not a one off.
“They were 16th for shot quantity for last season also. If you look at the shot quality – non penalty expected goals per shot – they were always around the top. So the shot quality is great, but if you’re not shooting well in the Premier League, more often than not, your attack stinks. So how does he get the shot count up, and how does he get the goal count up? I think that’s going to be the big, big challenge for him.”
Now we’re just simple football fans without a masters in xG, but to us it seems like quality and quantity will often be inversely proportional anyway – taking lots of shots will usually mean you’re taking shots from worse positions.

Liam Rosenior’s impressive press conference today had a lot of interesting features – but his discussion of Chelsea’s situation involving red and yellow cards was particularly illuminating.
On a similar note, the new manager also noted that physicality was something he was aiming to introduce to this group.
