Clippers, Mavericks' Interest in Chicago Bulls Star Revealed

With the NBA trade deadline less than a month away, rumours around the league have started to swirl regarding various moves as teams look to bolster their rosters for the second half of the season and, ultimately, the playoffs.

These rumours surround players across the association, which includes the Chicago Bulls' star guard Coby White, who has caught the eye of various front offices.

According to a recent report by ClutchPoints' Brett Siegel, White has been the subject of interest from several Western Conference teams, including the Los Angeles Clippers, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Dallas Mavericks.

"The Bulls continue to field calls from numerous teams interested in White. The Timberwolves, Dallas Mavericks, and LA Clippers are among several teams from the Western Conference interested in the Bulls guard, sources said," states Siegel.

This recent surge of interest comes in the midst of White's final season of his three-year deal with the Bulls, a period of time in which the 25-year-old has taken the shortest of steps back when it comes to his offensive numbers. In the 17 games he's played this season, the former Tar Heel is averaging 18.4 points and 4.6 assists per game, shooting with 44 percent accuracy from the field.

Why would the Bulls want to trade White?

Given that the 25-year-old plays such an important role in the Bulls' system, which is reflected in his scoring average (18.4 points) being the second highest on the team, it may come as a head scratcher as to why they'd want to get rid of him.

One potential explanation is a desire to get something in exchange for their star guard before his contract expires at the end of the season, which would open the door for him to explore options elsewhere.

When looking at the Bulls' existing draft capital, which includes two first-round picks in the highly anticipated 2026 NBA draft, they could look to bolster their chances at landing a solid haul in the upcoming class or those that follow.

If there is any move to be made regarding White, it will have to be made ahead of the NBA's trade deadline, which is set to shut its door on February 5 at 3:00 p.m. EST.
