I’m tired of the Golden State Warriors. I’m tired of the Kings too, but I’m really tired of the Warriors. Maybe I’m just tired. The Kings are back in action tonight.
Who: Sacramento Kings (8-29) vs. Golden State Warriors (20-18)
Where: Chase Center, San Francisco, CA
When: 7:00 PM PT / 10:00 PM ET
Watch: NBCSCA / League Pass
Sacramento’s losing streak extended to 6 games following their national TV loss to the Mavericks on Tuesday, and while the Warriors aren’t having a great year, they’re heathy and should be able to take down the Kings tonight at home.
The more noteable storyline is the reemergence of the Jonathan Kuminga trade rumors that gave Kings fans something to talk about all summer, if nothing else. Kuminga is still available, obviously (he hasn’t played in 10 straight games), and according to reporter Monte Poole, the Kings are still the only NBA team that has shown a serious interest in him.
With the Kings in town to the play the Warriors, I’d be shocked if those conversations aren’t ongoing. Sacramento’s interest Kuminga should be entirely dependent on what it takes to acquire him, and right now it sounds like that cost is pretty low. Scott Perry has stated that he wants the team to get younger, a statement that is both true, and a very realistic outcome in their pursuit of Kuminga, who is somehow still just 23 years old.
I’m into taking a flyer on Kuminga FWIW, and I’ll even give Scott Perry credit if he pulls this off at a price below what the Warriors were demanding this summer. It would be a refreshing result if the Kings actually won a trade negotiation like this. Feels like it’s been a while.
Prediction: Kings 117, Warriors 112, and Kuminga is a King by the deadline.
