Liverpool manager Arne Slot has eased the pressure on his position at Anfield after overseeing a 10-game unbeaten run for his side

Liverpool manager Arne Slot watched his side earn a point against Premier League leaders Arsenal on Thursday night as the Reds made it 10 games unbeaten in all competitions.

Slot was under serious pressure back in late November as a poor run of form culminated with back-to-back home defeats at the hands of Nottingham Forest and PSV Eindhoven, with both clubs claiming victories at Anfield by a three-goal margin.

However, the Dutchman has been able to stop the dreadful form that saw Liverpool lose frequently during the autumn.

They have become a harder side to beat in recent weeks but still have a long way to go in order to seal a top-four spot. The draw with Arsenal was their second 0-0 result in three games after a stalemate with Leeds United at Anfield on January 1.

Liverpool have drawn their last three games and missed the chance to pull away from the chasing pack. They are just two points above Brentford in fifth and sit seven points behind Aston Villa and Manchester City, who are third and second, respectively.

It has been a dramatic start to 2026 across the Premier League with Enzo Maresca sacked by Chelsea while Ruben Amorim was dismissed by Manchester United earlier this week.

Both managers aimed digs at club hierarchy in press conferences before their respective sackings, hinting at disharmony behind the scenes.

He said: “You know, the people up in the top want to make the decisions. We saw that obviously with Maresca. We’ve seen that now with Amorim.

“Very strong rumours around Liverpool at the moment. There’s a bit of a fallout between Arne Slot and I think it’s Richard Hughes running the operations there.

“People want their say on team matters and et cetera.”

Slot has certainly made no hint of a fallout with the Liverpool sporting director with claims made there was a disagreement between the manager and Hughes over adding more depth at left-wing in the summer after selling Luis Diaz.

He even said in his pre-match press conference ahead of Arsenal that he and Hughes made decisions together in the summer.

He said: “First of all, I'm really happy with the squad we are having. All the decisions that are made last summer and the summer before and all these things are completely aligned with me and Richard [Hughes] and ownership.

“So, I think it has shown this season how talented this group is and if everyone is available how good of a team we can be.

“There's nothing, nothing, nothing positive from players being injured but maybe, maybe if I could think about - not that it is positive - but the narrative that has always been there that we've spent so much money in the summer and every time when I try to say, 'No, we replaced and spent a little bit more than came in,' no-one wanted to hear it.

“But maybe now for the first time since we've only had two or three injuries people do see now that we 'only' replaced very good players. So even last game and also the games before, I could impact the game off the bench, because Jeremie Frimpong again came in and gave an assist and the players that are starting are incredible football players.

“So, this club is in a very good place if everyone is available, and we are getting stronger and stronger, then this club is in a really good place for the short future but definitely also for the mid- to long-term future.”
