“I don’t like it. Not at all. I think that they should probably work it out,” said Clovis Wright, a Grizzlies fan.

Other fans from across the region voiced concerns about losing Morant, with some traveling significant distances to see him play.

“I came down here from New England to see Ja Morant,” said one fan.

Steven Peyton, another Grizzlies fan, said the team would not receive adequate value in return.

“I don’t think we’ll get the value that he has. I want him to stay. I don’t think that anything that we will get for him will be enough. I want him to play,” Peyton said.

Other fans said a trade could work depending on the return package.

“It depends on what you get. It could go hand in hand. If you get two, maybe another superstar, it could turn the franchise around,” said one fan attending Friday’s game.

Wright emphasized the difficulty of attracting star players to smaller markets.

“It’s hard to get stars in small markets like this. We got one. We just need to make it work,” Wright said.

Morant has played only 16 games this season due to injuries and disciplinary issues. He is under contract with the Grizzlies through the 2027-2028 season and is eligible for a new deal this summer.
