A three-pointer in the third quarter of the Rockets' road game against the Portland Blazers catapulted Durant towards the milestone.
Up next for Durant to surpass is Dallas Mavericks great Dirk Nowitzki. The German great tallied 31,560 points throughout his career.
Right now, Durant has the second-most points among active players. He significantly trails LeBron James, who stands atop the leaderboard with 42,588 points and counting.
