Liverpool have signed a second player of the January transfer window, with both stars to play for the club's Under-21s side

Liverpool have confirmed the signing of promising young centre-back Mor Talla Ndiaye.

The defender turned 18 earlier this month and has joined the Reds from Senegal outfit Amitie FC, with the move subject to international clearance. The left-sided centre-back played all four games for Senegal at the recent U17 World Cup.

Liverpool confirmed the plan for Ndiaye is to join up with Rob Page’s Under-21s squad as he looks to get settled on Merseyside.

The Reds need to consider their long-term options in central defence with Ibrahima Konate out of contract this summer while Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez both have just 18 months left on their respective deals on Merseyside.

Slot currently has a lack of senior options, with Giovanni Leoni out with an ACL injury after sustaining the blow on his debut back in late September. Liverpool also missed out on signing Marc Guehi in the summer which left them with less experience at centre-back than they would have liked.

Earlier this week, Noah Adekoya posted on Instagram that he has joined the Reds from Premier League rivals Burnley. The 19-year-old came through the Clarets’ academy, having been with the club since under-12 level. Last season, captained Burnley to win the U18 Professional Development League North title.

Elsewhere, the Reds are in talks with Austria Wien over a deal for Ifeanyi Ndukwe, 17. It has been suggested in the Austrian capital that the deal is already completed but Ndukwe cannot move to Anfield until he is aged 18 because of Brexit rules. The 6ft 5in defender helped Austria under-17s reach the World Cup final, but they were beaten 1-0 by their Portuguese counterparts.

He has been linked with several of Europe’s top clubs but Liverpool appear to have won the race for his signature.
