Liverpool remain an attacker light after missing out on a deal to sign Antoine Semenyo this January.
The Reds had been expected to make a move for Semenyo after seeing a hole emerge in the forward options.
However, the Ghanaian has since joined Manchester City, with Liverpool heading back to the drawing board.

As January ticks on, it is beginning to seem unlikely that Richard Hughes and FSG will decide to add to the Liverpool squad this month.
However, if they do choose to be bold, RB Leipzigās Yan Diomande is a player who could be one to watch. After rumours linking him with a move to Anfield, the 19-year-old has seemingly spoken out to confirm his dream of playing for the Reds.
Yan Diomandeās is a ābigā Liverpool fan
It was only Friday when German journalist Christian Falk confirmed that Liverpoolās interest in Diomande should be taken seriously.
The teenager has had a breakthrough campaign at Leipzig, making 10 goal contributions in only 16 appearances.

This has inevitably led to suggestions that he will soon be joining one of Europeās top clubs, and while speaking in what appears to be a TikTok live video, Diomande has suggested that Liverpool would be his choice.
As relayed by Liverpool reporter DaveOKCOP on X, Diomande made a big admission while talking about his future on a livestream.
āI want to play at Anfield, I want to play for Liverpool,ā he reportedly says in French. āIām a big Liverpool fan. My fatherās dream is to see me play for Liverpool.ā

Is Diomande on the way to Liverpool then?
As we have seen many times in the past, just because a player is keen to play for Liverpool, it does not mean the Reds will come in and sign them.
Coincidentally, another former Leipzig player is a good recent example of this. Josko Gvardiol made no secret of his love of Liverpool while playing for the Bundesliga side.
Like Diomande, it appears that Gvardiolās father is a big Red who used to watch the matches with his son back in Croatia.
Even though Liverpool really could have used him at the time he left Leipzig, Gvardiol ultimately joined Man City where he has been a roaring success.
In the case of Diomande, though, his affiliation towards Liverpool could count for something. Many clubs are likely to be sniffing around him in 2026 and beyond, and with the Reds needing to future-proof their attack, they should use this to their advantage. We canāt see this happening in January, but it may be one to watch for the summer.
