Liverpool are among the clubs linked with RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande.

A Bundesliga starlet has revealed that he has his heart set on a move to Liverpool.

Yan Diomande has been one of the breakout stars in Germany this season. Having only joining Red Bull Leipzig from Spanish side CD Leganés in the summer transfer window, he has been sensational during the 2025-26 season. So far, Diomande has plundered seven goals and four assists in 16 appearances for Leipzig.

The winger is currently representing Ivory Coast at the African Cup of Nations. He has helped them reach the quarter-finals and then face Mo Salah’s Egypt on Saturday.

A video of Diomande during an TikTok Live video has emerged on social media. He is talking in French but the translation suggests that Diomande says Reds fans and dreams of fulfilling his father’s wish.

Diomande said: "I want to play at Anfield, I want to play for Liverpool. I’m a big Liverpool fan. My father's dream is to see me play for Liverpool."

Will Liverpool sign Yan Diomande?

Leipzig have reportedly set a price tag of around £88 million for Diomande. That is a gargantuan figure for a player who has had just half-a-season in the Bundesliga and was playing High School soccer in the USA only a couple of years ago.

But the teenager has proven he’s capable of performing at the highest level, with the highlight so far this campaign a hat-trick in a 6-0 thrashing of Eintracht Frankfurt. Although Leipzig sold Xavi Simons and Benjamin Sesko to Tottenham and Manchester United last summer, they are fourth in the Bundesliga after finishing just seventh last term.

It is well known that Die Roten Bullen are open to sales for the right price. Liverpool are aware more than most, having signed Dominik Szoboszlai, Ibrahima Konate and Naby Keita from Leipzig. The likes of Josko Gvardiol (Manchester City), Timo Werner (Chelsea) and Dani Olmo (Barcelona) have also secured big moves.

Liverpool will perhaps be in need of a winger in the summer transfer window. There was some criticism among supporters that Luis Diaz was not replaced after his sale to Bayern Munich last August. Meanwhile, a long-term successor for Mo Salah is required. Salah will turn 35 when his contract ends in June 2027.

There is also uncertainty around how long Salah will remain at Anfield despite being the club’s third highest goalscorer in history after he claimed that he’d been ‘thrown under a bus’ and someone ‘wants me out’ of the club after a 3-3 draw at Leeds United last month. Salah continues to attract interest from the Saudi Pro League.

Federico Chiesa may well move on at the end of the season given his lack of game-time. Chiesa has started just two Premier League games since his arrival in August 2024. He is linked with a departure this month.
