The search for new additions on Merseyside continues as Everton enter the tenth day of the January window.
Competition in the Premier League this season means Everton could very easily close the gap on the European spots with a run of good results.
The issue lies in David Moyes’ squad having been decimated over recent weeks by various injuries, suspensions and even international duty.
Moyes is hoping for Everton to make some signings and he will certainly need some added quality in his squad if he is going to take the club forward.
The January window is notoriously a difficult market to operate in, with clubs preferring to do their business over the summer.
Even ahead of the summer window, Everton are now set to see their local rivals, Liverpool, compete for the signature of one of their reported targets.

“One thing that is catching my eye is Mateus Mane at Wolves. I know it’s not going to be in this transfer window, but there is no way that Wolves go into next season without an intense battle,” he said.
“Liverpool are the club I’ve heard about, I think that’s because the representative he’s with already have a few players at Liverpool, but he’s going to be hard, if not impossible to hold onto, isn’t he?”
Everton’s track record with signing young prospects has not exactly been overly positive in recent months.
Tyler Dibling is still struggling at Everton, with the 19-year-old failing to establish himself over his run in the side of late.
This may well act as a warning for any youngsters which Everton eye going forward.
Mane set to become something special in the Premier League
One of the reports linking Everton to the youngster has suggested that almost half of the Premier League is keeping tabs on Mane.

“Dropping in, his timing was perfect, his touch, his pass was different class,” Edwards told the media.
“But the run from Mane and the touch and finish was sensational. So I’m taking nothing away from the kid.”
Moyes is uncertain on January signings at Everton having now had over a week to see how the market may pan out.
Additions are certainly needed, but it seems as if there may already be one eye on what the Blues could do in the summer window.
