Speaking openly, he said: “I want to play at Anfield, I want to play for Liverpool. I’m a big Liverpool fan. My father’s dream is to see me play for Liverpool.”
The comments came at a time when Diomande’s profile is rising fast. The Ivorian winger joined Leipzig in July 2025 after the club triggered his €20 million release clause.
He has since delivered. Diomande has scored six Bundesliga goals this season. He added one more in the DFB-Pokal.
He also recorded a historic hat-trick against Eintracht Frankfurt in December, becoming the second youngest player to do so in club history.
Manchester United have reportedly shown interest, with reports of talks involving his camp. That makes Diomande’s words even more significant.
This was not a media interview. It was a live stream. There was no script.
From a Liverpool perspective, this matters. The club values players who understand the shirt. Diomande did not just mention Liverpool.
He mentioned Anfield. He spoke about family. He spoke with emotion.
