Substitute Ceadach O’Neill got on the scoresheet but Arsenal U18s suffered an agonising defeat on their return to action today as they conceded in stoppage time in a 2-1 loss at home to Leicester City.

Alex Marciniak and Louis Zecevic John both started, while first year scholar Saurap Sampang was named amongst the substitutes as he made his first competitive appearance at this level.

Leicester took the lead in the 21st minute with Lorenz Hutchinson finding the net.

Arsenal made a change ahead of the second half with O’Neill replacing Marciniak.

O’Neill’s introduction proved to be an inspired decision, with the youngster equalising with his eighth league goal of the season after being set up by schoolboy Kyran Thompson.

Maalik Hashi came on for Louis Zecevic John, with Teshaun Murisa and Josh Ogunnaike later receiving yellow cards.

It seemed as if the game was going to end level but Leicester got the winner in the second minute of stoppage time through Hugo March.

Arsenal face Manchester City away next week in the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup.
