Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis admits Liverpool are a “crazy team” who he could look to join in the future, even though he hasn’t yet been strongly linked with a move to Anfield.
A new wide man has to be at the top of the Reds’ wishlist this year, with some supporters hoping to see a fresh face join during the January transfer window.
Mohamed Salah’s future is yet to be resolved, but even if he stays put at Liverpool, more depth and quality are required in wide attacking areas.
Speaking to Het Nieuwsblad [via Sport Witness], Tzolis has mentioned the Reds as one of the special clubs who could turn his head if interest emerges:
“I want to go to a top team. That’s all I can say. I’m not aware of any concrete interest at the moment, so I’m not even considering it. Maybe you know more than I do. I’d like to win the title here first.
“Although you never know, so I can’t say with 100% certainty that I’ll stay this winter. If a crazy team comes along, like Barcelona, ??Liverpool… Anyway, you know what I mean. But I don’t think that will happen in the winter.”
How good could Tzolis be for Liverpool?
Tzolis is a gifted young attacker with plenty to offer, having scored 32 goals and provided 31 assists in just 86 appearances for Brugge.
The 23-year-old has also netted nine times in 30 caps for Greece, proving himself at international level, and Greek football expert Stephen Kountourou has heaped praise on his qualities, saying:
“He’s having a very good season, barring the tie against Aston Villa in the Champions League. He didn’t have the best of games in the first leg, but he’s been excellent for us. He’s brought the exact kind of creativity and dynamism on the wing that we’ve missed for ages.”
Liverpool haven’t yet shown any concrete interest in Tzolis, but he has made it clear what he thinks of the Reds, and he could add much-needed quality on the left wing, as well as being able to impress on the right and in a central role.
Given his age, his best years should still be to come, too, and it will be interesting to see if the Merseysiders make a move for the winger, whose current Brugge deal expires in the summer of 2029.
