Liverpool have been linked with a potential move for PSG winger Bradley Barcola.

Paris Saint-Germain are hoping to tie Bradley Barcola to a new contract amid Liverpool transfer links.

The winger has been with PSG since he joined from Olympique Lyonnais in 2023 for around £40 million. Barcola has enjoyed a hugely successful period at the Parc des Princes. He has won two Ligue 1 titles and was part of their team that claimed the Champions League for the first time in their history last term.

However, Barcola is not an out-and-out starter in the French capital. The arrival of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia last year and the upward trajectory that Desire Doue is on means that Barcola can find himself on the substitutes’ bench. For PSG’s triumph over Marseille on penalties to claim the Trophée des Champions, Barcola replaced Kvaratskhelia in the 72nd minute.

Still, the 23-year-old is a high-class operator, having registered five goals and four assists in 23 appearances this campaign.

According to RMC Sport, Barcola has been offered a new contract, with his current deal expiring in 2028. However, it is suggested that the France international’s representatives ‘have not responded’ to what PSG have proposed,

PSG are said to be keen to find out Barcloa’s stance so they can plan accordingly. RMC Sport claims that the Parisians are ‘preparing for all eventualities and has a shortlist of targeted players’ if Barcola does have himself set on a departure. It is noted that t]he ‘never expressed a desire to leave’ amid links to Liverpool and German giants Bayern Munich.

Will Liverpool sign Barcola?

It is likely that Liverpool will want a new winger at the end of the season, with some fans surprised that they did not make a serious approach to sign Antoine Semenyo, who joined Manchester City from AFC Bournemouth for £65 million.

Barcola is capable of operating on both flanks, which is something that could appeal to Liverpool. The Reds require a long-term successor for Mo Salah, who will be 35 when his contract expires in 2027. In addition, Salah’s future has been shrouded in doubt after claiming he’d been ‘thrown under a bus’ after a 3-3 draw against Leeds. Salah lost his starting spot before jetting to represent Egypt at the African Cup of Nations.

Liverpool may want more competition for the left flank, with Cody Gakpo the only out-and-out senior option. The Netherlands international has struggled for consistent for this season.
