Liverpool have been given a major boost in their hopes of signing a rising star in Europe

Liverpool still have a lot to play for this season and may utilise the January transfer market effectively as the Reds look to secure a top four place and fight on multiple fronts this term.

Arne Slot’s side have gone ten matches unbeaten and showed impressive resilience to secure a goalless draw away at leaders Arsenal last time out. Following a difficult first half, Liverpool arguably controlled the game in the second period and looked the more likely to win the game in the end.

The fact that Gabriel Martinelli resorted to manhandling the injured Conor Bradley – leading to the Brazilian being branded ‘disgraceful’ by Gary Neville – to force the stricken Northern Irishman off the pitch demonstrates the frustration Liverpool caused to their hosts in the second period.

Liverpool have already completed agreements to sign young defenders Mor Ndiaye and Noah Adekoya this window, and their next signing this winter could be a massive coup for another wonderkid beginning to hit serious headlines.

Yan Diomande ‘dreams’ of playing for Liverpool

Following a latest development coming out of the camp of the player, it appears that a move to Anfield might be in the offing if Liverpool were to step up their interest.

In a video which has done the rounds on social media in recent days, Diomande revealed in a live stream on TikTok in November that his “dream” is to play for Liverpool at Anfield.

The teenager answered in French when asked about a dream he has for his career: “I have one, I want to play at Anfield. I want to play for Liverpool. I’m a big fan of Liverpool. I’m a big fan of Liverpool because my father’s dream is to see me play at Anfield, so that’s my dream. You know, to fulfil my father’s dream is a dream for me too.”

Liverpool should launch massive bid for Diomande this January

Diomande is currently away representing the Ivory Coast at AFCON and so any move away from Leipzig this January window has yet to develop, with a move next summer regarded as more likely.

But Liverpool currently have a severe shortage of attacking options amidst injury lay-offs to both Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike, and the competition for Diomande next summer is set to be fierce. Amidst the revelation that the 19-year-old dreams to play for the Anfield club, the Reds would no doubt jump in front of the competition such as United if they were to launch a big-money move this month.

Sky Sports Switzerland reported in December that ‘advanced talks’ have already been held by Liverpool with Diomande’s representatives, with Anfield a preferred destination if the player’s comments are to be believed. While an earth-shattering £87m demand may prove an issue for the club, contrasting reports suggest that his valuation may be closer to £52m - £61m. Whether the Reds opt to make a massive bid to secure the services of Diomande later this month remains to be seen, but it could prove a crucial move in their season.
