Manchester City sign Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth

Manchester City have announced the signing of Antoine Semenyo from Premier League rivals AFC Bournemouth.

He has joined on a deal believed to be worth around £65m, including bonuses. It is a record sale for Bournemouth.

The 26-year-old Ghanaian international signed his first professional contract with Bristol City in 2018 after being turned down by various clubs previously.

He spent time out on loan to Bath City and Newport County. Once he broke through, he ended up making 127 appearances across his six seasons at the club and scoring 27 goals.

He joined Bournemouth in 2023. After a slow start at his new club, he started to make his mark. In his three full seasons at the club, he racked up over 30 goals in 110 games.

He spoke to the club site on the news: "I am so proud to have joined Manchester City.”

“They have set the highest of standards and it's a club with world-class players, world-class facilities and one of the greatest managers ever in Pep Guardiola.

"I have so much scope for improvement, so to be at this club, at this stage of my career, is perfect for me. It's a real privilege to be here. My best football is yet to come. I am sure of that."

Guardiola added: "He was extraordinary at Bournemouth. He can play on both sides, he knows the Premier League and many clubs wanted him and he decided to join us.

“We followed him for a long time. He is the perfect age, 25 or 26 years old, so the best years are to come."

He has signed a deal until 2031.
