Charlton vs Chelsea FA Cup clash paused due to medical emergency

Play between Charlton Athletic and Chelsea was paused because of a medical emergency in the crowd.

The FA Cup third round tie at The Valley, which is live on talkSPORT, was halted inside the opening ten minutes of the first half.

Both sets of players walked over to their respective benches to begin with, before returning to the pitch.

After almost five minutes, medical staff were seen taking someone away on a stretcher and applause rang out around The Valley.

Play then resumed with the score 0-0, and each club's X account wished the fan a speedy recovery.

Seven minutes were added at the end of the first half, with an injury to Facundo Buonanotte also bringing a delay to the match.

Jorrel Hato then fired Chelsea in front with a first-time volley, his first goal for the club.

Charlton and Chelsea are playing against each other for the first time since 2007.

It's also their first meeting in the FA Cup since the 1994/95 third round, which the Blues won 3-0 at Stamford Bridge.
