Chelsea lead against Charlton! It’s an absolute screamer from Jorrel Hato.
The home team have done really well all game, but Chelsea have also been good. In this moment they were controlling the ball high up the pitch looking for an opening as extra time in the first half ticked by. Moises Caicedo chipped a ball into the box for Marc Guiu to fight for, and while the Spanish striker couldn’t win it, the defender’s clearance dropped perfectly to the edge of the box where Hato was waiting.
The former Ajax man waited for it to drop then absolutely leathered it into the top corner with perfect contact. The full back has been used in the pocket tonight in an unusual role, and he justified that decision with that one strike.

Hato has made the most of his start tonight, and should be one of the players who can benefit most from the change in manager. Enzo Maresca didn’t really fancy him as a player, but he’s made a great first impression for his new manager.
He will be judged on more than goals – but it’s still a great way to seize some attention.
In other news…
The formation shift is very interesting – and we’re wondering if it’s one we will see continued with the first team when they’re in action next week, of if this is custom built for this game.
One person not in tonight’s squad is Tyrique George, who hasn’t actually been on the bench since October. We’re all expecting a January move – but where is the interest? It’s a little concerning.
