(Video): Tosin and Guiu score to put Chelsea 3-1 up after Charlton fightback

Chelsea have a two goal lead against Charlton at the Valley, and it looks like a long way back from here for the home side with just 25 minutes to play.

The Blues got a goal right at the end of the first half with a superb volley from Jorrel Hato, and another member of their defence grabbed the second just after the break. Tosin Adarabioyo flicked in a nice near post header from Facundo Buonanotte’s wide free kick.

Guiu gets a deserved goal after working hard up top

Charlton then pegged Chelsea back to 2-1 and got the stadium rocking but the Blues didn’t wait long to extend their lead to two goals again. Alejandro Garnacho surged down the left to play in Buonanotte, who took a tame shot which the keeper was able to parry.

Unfortunately for Charlton, the ball fell right to Marc Guiu, who has worked hard all night with no reward and no service. He made no mistake as he lashed it in. He will be delighted that he took the chance to impress Liam Rosenior in his first game under the new manager.

In other news…

Hato is playing in a new role, and he got the opening goal for the Blues with a stunning strike from the edge of the box to put his team ahead.

The formation shift is very interesting – and we’re wondering if it’s one we will see continued with the first team when they’re in action next week, of if this is custom built for this game.
