Barcelona have been given the green light to sign Joao Cancelo on loan from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal after La Liga confirmed Andreas Christensen’s injury is long-term.

Christensen has been ruled out with an ACL problem that is expected to keep him sidelined for several months. Barca can now use 80% of his salary to sign another player and are set to bring in Cancelo on a temporary basis.

According to multiple reports in Spain, the deal can now go through after La Liga reviewed all the paperwork and gave the transfer the go ahead.

Cancelo is now expected to arrive in Barcelona on Monday, according to Sport, and will be officially presented as a new player after the Spanish Super Cup final.

Deco and Joan Laporta have already confirmed the deal for the Portugal international is in place, with the 31-year-old set to give Hansi Flick more options in defence as he can play in both full-back positions.
