After seeing his League One side thrashed 10-1 by Manchester City, Gary Caldwell told BBC Sport they will take a lot from the experience.
"They are world class players," he said. "It was a great experience, a humbling experience for our team, to see top players behaving in a top way, the way they came for us, how hard they worked, their quality.
"We conceded some poor goals in that first half. No matter if you’re playing Man City or League One you have to defend better.
"They gave us an experience today that we have to learn from and try and take lessons from. They are a fantastic team.
"We have to take positives from this experience, even if it was a really difficult day."
One bright spot was the fine goal scored by Academy graduate George Birch late-on.
"I’ve never celebrated a goal 9-0 down as much as that. It’s his first goal in professional football and what a goal it was. I’m delighted for him," added Caldwell.
