Tyler Herro has been dealing with an injury this season, which has seen him not play for an extended period. He also needed to ramp up his fitness so he could be reintegrated into head coach Erik Spoelstra's starting lineup.
While Herro was an All-Star from the 2024-25 season, he is not playing at his best this season. This has been reflected in the Miami Heat's lackluster performances so far, but it appears that Spoelstra is not too worried about Herro himself.
Spoelstra sees the Heat's issues go beyond Herro
While Herro has not been at his best coming off his injury, Spoelstra sees the issues go beyond his All-Star guard. He has already called out the Heat's lack of effort multiple times this season. Spoelstra wants to see superb effort from his team, as they want to keep fighting in games.
It has been challenging for the Heat to keep winning this season. They have had some hot streaks, but they also have some cold streaks with multiple losses this season. They have a 20-18 record, but they are now on a two-game losing streak after Saturday's loss to the Indiana Pacers.

Spoelstra believes this is more of a collective issue rather than being a Herro-specific problem. Moving forward, the Heat will probably play harder after being called out by their head coach.
"That's a 1 game sample its more of a collective thing. That group, when they played together its been an explosive offensive group. That's been a small sample size, but this is a very small sample size collectively as a team. Forget the starting lineup its not like it got better with the 2nd unit," Spoelstra said about his starting lineup.
"He was able to get to what he does. I'm not concerned about that. I'm more thinking about our entire team. Our approach is to bring a Miami Heat professional, competitive spirit."
The loss to the Pacers should be an eye-opening one for the Heat. Spoelstra is well aware of their issues, but the players might not be looking at the big picture. Yes, Herro might not be at his best at the moment, but the rest of the team is also struggling.
Spoelstra will also need to be held accountable because he is the one who picks the rotation. Everyone within the Heat organization needs to be much better because the team has tons of potential, and they might be wasting it.
