White finished with 29 points, nine rebounds and three assists. But he also made key defensive plays as he also had two steals and two blocks. White’s defensive chops makes him a dangerous player and he did it all for the Celtics. He also shot 11-for-26 from the field and 5-for-17 on 3-pointers.
But the C’s just couldn’t generate enough offense in the second half, scoring 40 points in the final two quarters. Wembanyama was a big part of that as his rim protection is a consistent threat. The Celtics, who brought the NBA’s best offensive rating into Saturday’s game, struggled while the Spurs made just enough shots for the victory.
The Celtics finish their four-game home stand at 2-2. They beat the Bulls and Raptors, but they lost to the Nuggets and Spurs. The C’s will look to regroup as they face the Pacers at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Indiana.
