What really happened between Dennis Schroder and Luka Doncic after Lakers-Kings

Dennis Schroder received a three-game suspension after the NBA determined he confronted and attempted to strike Luka Doncic during a heated postgame tunnel altercation following the Kings' loss to the Lakers on Dec. 28.

The NBA has suspended Sacramento Kings guard Dennis Schroder for three games following an altercation with Luka Doncic after the Kings' 125–101 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on December 28 at Crypto.com Arena.

Tensions between Schroder and Doncic had been building throughout the game, with the two exchanging words on multiple occasions.

During a timeout, Luka taunted Schroder by referencing the four-year, $82 million contract extension the German veteran guard turned down from the Lakers several years ago, telling him he "should've signed that contract."

While things seemed to settle once the final buzzer sounded, the situation escalated again later.

After leaving the visiting locker room, Schroder spotted Doncic in the tunnel near the Lakers' bench, where tempers flared once more.

According to the NBA, roughly 40 minutes after the game ended, Schroder confronted Luka, saying he couldn't be called a "b***h" on the court and then act as if nothing happened afterward.

The league determined that Schroder attempted to strike Doncic during the post-game confrontation.

Lakers starting center Deandre Ayton stepped in to pull Schroder away, while a visibly surprised Luka tried to leave the area as arena security intervened.

Schroder was eventually escorted to the Kings' team bus as head coach Doug Christie and several teammates tried to understand what had happened.

Doncic and his father, Sasa, later walked to their car and departed the arena. Meanwhile, Schroder and the rest of the Kings prepared to leave on the team bus.

The Lakers and Kings are scheduled to face each other again Monday night in Sacramento, but Schroder will miss the game while serving his suspension.
