Arsenal will wear a red and white kit for their FA Cup fixture against Portsmouth, dropping the all white kit that awareness for the "No More Red" anti-knife crime campaign. In the last four FA Cup fixtures the club has "drained the red" from their traditional shirts to highlight the urgency of youth safety.
The campaign was originally launched in January 2022 in response to record-high levels of knife crime in London. It serves as a visual commitment to protecting young people from the escalating dangers of knife crime and urban violence.
Despite the kit not being used this year, Arsenal are continuing their work on the 'No more Red' campaign into the fifth year. There will now be different expressions this year, focussing on supporting local communities. focusing
The initiative focuses on three core pillars: investing in safe physical spaces, providing mentorship, and championing local role models. By refurbishing football pitches in high-risk areas, the club aims to provide productive environments that keep youth off the streets during dangerous after-school hours.
Both the men’s and women’s teams participate in the initiative by wearing the special kit during their respective FA Cup matches. High-profile stars like Declan Rice and Alessia Russo have been central to the campaign, using their platforms to meet with community members and share inspiring stories.
Against Portsmouth, Arsenal will wear their traditional red and white kits. There will however be a tweak with the team wearing white socks to avoid a clash with the home side's traditional red socks.
