Chelsea and Liverpool scouting Serie A centre-back

Liam Rosenior’s tenure at Chelsea got off to a fine start as they beat Charlton Athletic 5-1 in the FA Cup third round on Saturday evening.

Jorrel Hato put the visitors ahead in first-half added time at The Valley, before defender Tosin Adarabioyo doubled their advantage shortly after the interval with a deft header.

The Addicks then pulled one back courtesy of Miles Leaburn, and the hosts briefly looked on top before Marc Guiu re-established Chelsea’s two-goal advantage.

Substitute Pedro Neto then made it 4-1, before Enzo Fernandez capped an impressive display from the penalty spot to make it 5-1.

Next up for the Blues is a Carabao Cup semi-final first leg tie against Premier League leaders Arsenal, but in the meantime it appears that the west London outfit are eyeing a move for a Serie A defender.

As per CaughtOffside, Chelsea are one of a number of Premier League sides interested in Como centre-back Jacobo Ramon.

The report suggests that Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur have all scouted the Spaniard this season, with the 21-year-old having impressed for Cesc Fabregas’ side this term.

Ramon joined Como from Real Madrid’s Castilla development side last summer and has since played 17 times for the Italian outfit across all competitions, including 16 Serie A appearances.

Despite significant interest from Premier League sides, Ramon’s former side – Real Madrid – will likely have the final say on the player’s next club.

According to the report, the La Liga giants included a buy-back clause set at around £7 million in the deal that took the central defender to Italy, as well as a 50% sell-on clause.

Fellow Premier League sides Newcastle United, Crystal Palace, and Brighton and Hove Albion are all also said to have been impressed by Ramon’s maturity.
