Former Celtics point guard Dennis Schroder has been suspended for the next three games by the NBA for “confronting and attempting to strike another player.” The incident stems from a game on Dec. 28, according to the league, between the Lakers and Kings.

Schroder confronted Lakers star Luka Doncic about 40 minutes after the contest in an arena hallway per reports. The two guards exchanged words throughout the contest including Doncic taking a verbal jab at Schroder for turning down a big payday with the Lakers back in 2021. Schroder has also been in several feisty games with Doncic in Europe over their careers, including in EuroBasket play.

Schroder will miss the next three games for the Kings due to the suspension, starting with a matchup against the Rockets on Sunday. Sacramento has currently lost seven straight games and has the second-worst record in the NBA next to the Kings.

Schroder is averaging 13 points and 5.7 assists per game for a rebuilding Sacramento squad this year. He is one of several trade candidates for the Kings as the deadline approaches on Feb. 5.

The Kings guard will be eligible to return to the floor on Jan. 16 against the Wizards.
