The Frenchman has been side-lined for Liverpool’s last two games.

Hugo Ekitike has been on top form for Liverpool this season.

He has scored 11 goals across all competitions so far and has coped outstandingly well with the arrival of Alexander Isak.

The striker was brought in during the summer, and then a couple of weeks later Liverpool paid a British record sum to bring Alexander Isak to the club.

Hugo Ekitike has responded expertly well to that and worked his way to being first-choice striker before Isak suffered a nasty injury when he came off the bench against Tottenham Hotspur.

That has put Alexander Isak out for some time and Ekitike has led the line.

However, a hamstring issue picked up before Liverpool’s trip to Craven Cottage last week left Liverpool with no recognized striker up top.

The Reds then travelled to the Emirates to face league leaders Arsenal, and without star man Mohamed Salah or a striker, they held the London side to a goalless draw.

Ahead of the Arsenal game, Arne Slot said:

“He’s not trained with us until now. Let’s see if he can today. I said when we played Fulham that he wasn’t going to be out for long, but the games come thick and fast.”

That is a hint towards the injury not being too serious, and Hugo Ekitike has now posted a message of inner belief on his Instagram to show his fans he isn’t far away from a return.

Posting via his second Instagram story, a screenshot of a tweet reads:

“just wanna thank God in advance for the run I’m about go on.”

That hints at the idea that Ekitike believes he will get straight back to scoring goals for the Reds once he returns, with the minor injury he’s suffered not proving a major obstacle to overcome.

Arne Slot is set to heavily rotate for Liverpool’s next game on Monday when they face Barnsley in the FA Cup, but an expected return for Hugo Ekitike could be for the Burnley game at Anfield later next week.
