Liverpool set Federico Chiesa price tag as potential exit looms

Juventus hold a strong interest in the Liverpool forward.

Federico Chiesa was effectively forced out of Juventus in 2024, with then manager Thiago Motta banishing him from the squad and it led to his arrival on Merseyside.

Liverpool saw an opportunity and snapped the Italian up in a bargain £12m deal.

It was Arne Slot’s only signing ahead of his debut season in charge, but the Dutchman rarely utilised his new addition, relying heavily on the core of the team left behind by Jurgen Klopp.

Despite the struggles of last season, Fedrico Chiesa has repeatedly come out and said how committed he is to Liverpool, and he has a clear intention to prove himself at the club.

An exit was rumoured in the summer, but Chiesa fought for his place, and he started the season strongly.

The attacker scored in Liverpool’s opening Premier League fixture off the bench and has consistently impressed whenever he has been called upon by Arne Slot.

The Italian is full of energy, and his fight is clear to see, but Arne Slot still doesn’t appear to favour the player.

The Reds have struggled this season, but Slot has preferred players out of form to Chiesa on multiple occasions.

Whilst it is clear that in an ideal world Federico Chiesa would like to stay at Liverpool, if his path continues to be blocked, he may well consider an exit.

That’s where Juventus come in.

Sky Italy recently reported that Juventus are stepping up their efforts to bring Federico Chiesa back to the club, but the structure of any potential deal remains a stumbling block.

According to reports in Italy, Liverpool have set a £10m price tag for Chiesa, as they look to recoup the majority of the sum they pai for him in the summer of 2024.

The obstacle is that Juventus are big fans of a loan with an option to buy agreement, but Liverpool have shown little interest in a temporary solution.

For the Reds, it is a permanent exit for Federico Chiesa, or nothing.

At the very least, they are after a loan deal with an obligation to buy, meaning once Chiesa does complete the switch, he won’t be returning.

The club still view Chiesa as a valuable asset who hasn’t yet made his mark on the starting eleven, rather than a player that must be loaned out.

It remains to be seen what Chiesa will decide to do as the January transfer window develops, but I don’t believe anyone would be majorly shocked if he decided to depart this month.
