The Liverpool right-back has been ruled out for the season with a significant knee injury.

Liverpool have suffered a devastating blow following the confirmation that Conor Bradley will be side-lined for the rest of 2025/26 after suffering significant damage to the bones and ligaments in his left knee.

The Northern Ireland international went down during the final stage of Liverpool’s goalless draw at Arsenal on Thursday and had to be stretched off the pitch.

The club have confirmed today that Bradley will have surgery and begin his rehabilitation programme at the AXA Training Centre.

His injury deepens Liverpool’s defensive troubles.

Jeremie Frimpong has been in and out of the team since signing this summer, demonstrating a potential fragility that Liverpool will not be too fond of.

They will now desperately need him to stay fit with Bradley sidelined.

Joe Gomez is also in and out of the squad due to his fitness issues, and with summer signing Giovanni Leoni also out for the season after an ACL tear, a lot of pressure is residing on Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate’s shoulders to stay fit.

There were reports as we approached the end of the year that Liverpool would discuss the possibility of bringing in defensive reinforcements in January.

At that time, it was down to how many goals Liverpool were conceding and that something needs to change.

Now the situation is different, with a growing feeling that Liverpool must now act to provide cover for their backline with key players out injured for a long period of time.

Lewis Steel has provided an insight into how Bradley’s injury could re-shape Liverpool’s transfer plans for January.

Writing for the Daily Mail, he said: “It also is a timely blow for Liverpool who also have young centre back Giovanni Leoni out for the season. Joe Gomez can deputise at both right back and centre half, but boss Arne Slot might need to delve into the academy for further depth.”

“The Reds have thus far remained firm on their stance that they will not act in the January transfer market due to their injuries, but it remains to be seen whether the Bradley blow changes that.”
